Dear Madam:

            With reference to your telegram of November 14^th and your letter of November 16 to District Inspector Case in respect of your brother Edward Talmage Bethea, seaman 1^st class U.S.C.G., a passenger on the ill-fated S.S. Caribou, I beg to enclose copy of report of District Inspector Case for your information.

            I regret to advise that the body of your brother has not been recovered, at least, not to our knowledge.  However, if it should be recovered I shall let you know immediately.
