Following melancholy information yesterday from Hant’s Harbor. Is “Lion” missing. Part two boats name on one found locality Friday number ten kerosene casks and body of human now at Read (Red) Head Cove. Supposed Mrs. John Cross. Afraid Lion all hands lost started twelve Thursday night beautiful time must shaved Grates Point too close. Mrs. Cross, Mrs. Foster, Charles Power, Snelgrove’s oldest son, think both Dorothy’s (Doherty’s) aboard. Asking Government send steamer take Mrs. Cross to Trinity finding the others.

Reply)

Lion left Thursday night nothing of her since except woman’s body. Goods known to be on board found Red Head Cove supplies lost with all on board. Cabot preparing to bring the body here and make search for the other passengers. Snelgrove’s older son only other name.
